If we had a candy cane for every time Mr. Jenson “lost” his glasses… well, let’s just say the Peach Tree Retirement Center would have the tallest peppermint tree in Yakima.
It was Tuesday morning in the Commons Room, and the festive chaos of our Holiday Spectacle Hunt was in full swing. Residents gathered for warm cider and gingerbread cookie decorating, with carols playing softly and our mischievous Peach Tree Elf darting between table legs with a trail of glitter and giggles. And then came the moment.
“Has anyone seen my glasses?” Mr. Jenson asked, squinting toward the cocoa bar.
This was the third time this week. Staff and residents fanned out—checking under chairs, inside mittens, even in the nativity scene (again). But it was 8-year-old Lila, visiting her grandma from Terrace Heights, who spotted them first.
“They’re on your head!” she laughed.
Sure enough, nestled just behind his Santa hat and a sprig of tinsel, Mr. Jenson’s glasses sat—perfectly balanced and thoroughly forgotten. Laughter rippled through the room. And peeking from behind the punch bowl, that cheeky little Elf gave a knowing wink. We’re starting to suspect he’s not just hiding the glasses… he might be relocating them.
