If you walked into Peach Tree’s Fireside Lounge yesterday and spotted Mrs. Doris knitting away with two pairs of glasses on her face, no you didn’t. Or actually — yes, you did. And so did she… kind of.
The latest clue in our Holiday Spectacle Hunt had the whole room chuckling: “Double Vision? Mrs. Doris Wears Two Pairs and Still Can’t See the Elf.” It all started when she misplaced her reading glasses during Christmas bingo. Naturally, she reached into her knitting bag and pulled out her backup pair. The problem? The first pair was already perched on top of her head — right where the Peach Tree Elf had stashed them during morning decorating.
“Oh, heavens!” she laughed, realizing she had one pair for each eye. “And I still can’t spot that sneaky little elf!”
Turns out, the Elf was cleverly tucked inside the poinsettia display next to the cocoa cart, holding a candy cane like a spyglass. His tiny red hat wiggled ever so slightly every time someone said “spectacle,” which, as you can imagine, was quite often that day.
These joyful “oops” moments are all part of the fun here at Peach Tree Retirement Center. Our annual Spectacle Scavenger Hunt has turned misplaced glasses into a full-on festive tradition, bringing together residents, grandkids, staff, and visitors in a season-long celebration of holiday humor and heart. And Mrs. Doris? She’s now considering a third pair — just in case the elf starts a collection.
