At Peach Tree Retirement Center, the holiday spirit isn’t just in the decorations — it’s wrapped right into the napkins. Literally.
This week’s clue in our ever-curious Holiday Spectacle Hunt had us all scratching our heads and wiping our hands. It all began when Miss Eloise, ever the elegant lunch companion, sat down for her usual holiday luncheon — tomato bisque, turkey sliders, and a side of cranberry cheer. She reached for her napkin, unfolded it gracefully, and found… her glasses. Folded neatly. Right next to the fork.
“I suppose they’ve been enjoying their lunch before me,” she giggled, holding them up like a rare holiday artifact.
The dining room burst into laughter as staff and residents looked around, suspecting (as usual) that a certain pointy-eared mischief-maker might be nearby. Sure enough, peeking from behind a centerpiece of candy canes and Christmas crackers, was the Peach Tree Elf — eyes twinkling, cheeks red, and his tiny hands dusted with flour from the cookie station.
It seems the little rascal had tucked Miss Eloise’s spectacles into her place setting earlier that morning — part of our ongoing spectacle scavenger hunt, which has turned misplaced eyewear into a campus-wide adventure filled with belly laughs, clever clues, and intergenerational joy.
Moments like these are what make Peach Tree shine during the holidays. Here, aging comes with joy, retirement comes with friendship, and even the smallest surprises — like a pair of glasses served with lunch — become reasons to smile.
